§ Mr. Lomasasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement concerning the proposed Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation improvement scheme.
§ Mr. Denis HowellThe British Waterways Board is promoting a Bill to obtain the necessary enabling powers to carry out this scheme. A decision whether or not to proceed with the scheme will depend on the outcome of consultations which my Department will be having with local interests.
