asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average number of patients allocated to dentists in Basildon and district corporation area and how this compares with the average in Essex, the South-East Region and the national average.

Under general dental services arrangements patients are not allocated to a particular dentist but may seek treatment from participating dentists anywhere. The population per dentist providing general dental services from surgeries within the areas in question is:
