asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the fall in the value of the £ sterling since June 1973; and what is the real purchasing power of £127.25 now compared with June 1973.

Between June 1973 and May 1974, the latest date for which information is available, the purchasing power of £127.25 fell by 13.3 per cent. to £110.33, on the basis of the change in the General Index of Retail Prices.
