HC Deb 11 July 1974 vol 876 cc565-6W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will show the number of slums cleared, the numbers of persons moved from slum dwellings, and the number of families moved from slum dwellings in each year between 1964 and 1973 inclusive.

Mr. William Ross

Information is not centrally available as to the number of persons or households moved or rehoused in the process of slum clearance or urban renewal in Scotland. The numbers of dwellings classified as being "below the tolerable standard" (post-1969 Housing (Scotland) Act) or "unfit" (pre-1969 Housing (Scotland) Act) which were closed or demolished in each year from 1964 to 1973 inclusive are:

Year Number of Houses
1964 11,997
1965 12,549
1966 12,766
1967 14,447
1968 15,479
1969 16,696
1970 15,325
1971 18,819
1972 16,151
1973 14,872
