HC Deb 11 July 1974 vol 876 c534W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the tax liability of a 70-year-old retirement pensioner, with a pensioner wife, who has an income additional to pension of £3 per week from the National Coal Board and a mineworkers disablement pension of £6.56 per week.

Dr. Gilbert

Assuming that the wife is entitled to a retirement pension by virtue of her husband's insurance and that the disablement pension is subject to tax, and has no other income, then the tax payable for 1974–75 is £58.37. If the disablement pension is not subject to tax there is no tax payable for 1974–75.
