HC Deb 11 July 1974 vol 876 cc578-9W
Mr. Milne

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give details of the Poulson companies allowed to continue on the register of Government contractors following receipt of the auditor's report on such companies.

Mr. Freeson

There are no firms associated with Poulson on my Department's lists of consultants who may be invited to carry out work, though a number of successor firms, now unconnected with Poulson, are included.

Mr. Milne

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the report received from the auditors on the work done by Poulson companies for various Government Departments during the period 1960 to 1970.

Mr. Freeson

I do not know of any audit report on work done by Poulson companies for Government Departments.

Mr. Milne

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the action taken to recover moneys from Poulson companies following the auditor's report to his Department on the firms' activities.

Mr. Freeson

The report referred to is presumably the summary of information obtained from district auditors and others in 1970 about work done by Poulson organisations for local authorities, which was passed at that time to the Director of Public Prosecutions. It did not suggest that there had been overpayment for work done, and I am not aware of any such overpayment.
