HC Deb 11 July 1974 vol 876 c555W
Mr. Milne

asked the Attorney-General if, in the light of the direction to county court and High Court judges by the President of the Family Division to order certain cases in the division to be held without the attendance of the Press or public, he will introduce regulations to make it impossible to exclude the attendance of Press and public at hearings of cases concerning child snatching.

The Attorney-General

As a general rule applications for injunctions in the High Court and county court concerning children should be heard in private, particularly as they have often to be dealt with urgently on the basis of statements made by one side in the absence of the other which may turn out to be unfounded and may do great harm to the respondent when reported in the Press.
