HC Deb 10 July 1974 vol 876 cc476-7W
42. Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will circularise local authorities advising them so to adjust rent and rate rebate schemes that they do not have the effect of reducing the benefit to pensioners who enjoy rent or rate rebates, of the forthcoming increases in pensions; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeson

We have already done so; and have provided by regulations for these increases to be disregarded so that those in receipt of, or who have applied for, rent rebates, rent allowances and rate rebates at the time the increases take effect do not suffer a reduction of benefit.
