HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 cc461-2W
Mr. Waddington

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what were the total amounts of tax paid by companies in the textile industry in each of the years 1969–70, 1970–71, 1971–72, 1972–73 and 1973–74.

Mr. Dell

Figures of tax payments by companies in individual industries are not available. The corporation tax liabilities—so far as figures are available—of companies in the textile industry, in respect of accounting periods most nearly corresponding to the years of tax payment asked for, are estimated as follows:

Accounting periods ending in the financial year £ million
1968–69 63
1969–70 47
1970–71 38
