HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 cc467-9W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if the Scottish Special Housing

(1) medical; (2) surgical—including gynaecology; (3) geriatrics and chronic sick; (4) obstetrics and GP maternity; (5) psychiatric, and (6) other.

Mr. John Morris

The information requested is as follows:

apartment houses built in the Scottish public sector in each of the past 10 years; and if he will express the two-and three-apartment totals as a percentage of the whole.

Mr. William Ross

The information is as follows:

Association's letting policy prohibits the allocation of a three-apartment house to a family of man, wife and two children of the same sex, on the grounds that such a family would be overcrowded.

Mr. William Ross

The allocation of houses to individual tenants is a matter within the discretion of the Scottish Special Housing Association, which considers each case separately having regard to the circumstances. I understand that while a family of this composition would normally be offered a four-apartment house initially, they could be given a three-apartment house if they felt this was more suitable to their needs and circumstances.
