HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 c442W
Mr. Guy Barnett

asked the Prime Minister whether he intends to make any changes in his practice on the grouping of parliamentary Questions.

The Prime Minister

Yes. Following Mr. Speaker's suggestion on 26th June—[Vol. 875, c. 1555–6]—that only three or four Questions should be grouped together, I have decided to modify the practice, which has been followed by successive Prime Ministers, whereby all Questions of a similar kind tabled on the first available day are grouped together. To ensure that a wider range of Questions is reached orally, and in fairness to hon. Members with Questions high on the Order Paper, I propose to group such Questions only when they appear within the top 10 Questions on the Order Paper.
