HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 c444W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many man-hours are worked per month in the Offshore Supplies Office, both in London and in Glasgow at the latest available date.

Mr. Varley

At 1st July 1974, staff conditioned to 41 hours gross per week were in post in the OSO London Office and 11 staff conditioned in 42 hours per week in the Glasgow office, which represents a total of about 9,500 man-hours in a four-week period. No records are kept of hours worked in excess of conditioned hours, except for junior staff where there is an entitlement of payment of overtime, but many staff are, in fact, working in excess of their conditioned hours. As the expansion of OSO and the transfer of its HQ to Glasgow takes place over the next few months the situation described above will change. It is the intention that the staff in Glasgow will increase to about 90 as soon as suitable staff can be recruited.
