HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 c458W
Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) how many applications have been received for industrial development certificates in the Northern Region since 1st January 1974 to the most convenient date; and how this compares for a similar period in 1973;

(2) what is the number of square feet of manufacturing space together with the number of new jobs that will be created by the granting of industrial development certificates in the Northern Region from 1st January 1974 to the most convenient date; and how these figures compare with a similar period in the previous year.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Virtually the whole of the Department's Northern Region is a Development Area where IDCs have not been required since 20th July 1972. In the small part of the Northern Region which has Intermediate Area status two IDCs were approved and none refused in the period 1st January-30th June 1973. No applications have been approved or refused in the corresponding period of 1974.
