HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 c452W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from the Chairman of the Merseyside County Planning Committee regarding the Control of Pollution Bill; what reply he has sent; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Denis Howell

I have sent my hon. Friend a copy of my reply to the representations made by the Chairman of the Merseyside County Planning Committee. In my letter I welcomed the support he has given to our proposals in the Control of Pollution Bill for gathering information about wastes, effluents and discharges, and to the new concept for litter abatement embodied in Clause 21 of the Bill based on co-ordination of the litter policies of local authorities and voluntary bodies alike.
