§ Mr. Churchillasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs why Malta and Cyprus were omitted from the list he published in the OFFICIAL REPORT of 20th June of Commonwealth countries that have, or are seeking association with, the European Economic Community; and if he will now publish a definitive and complete list.

§ Mr. HattersleyI much regret that, due to an error, Malta and Cyprus were inadvertently omitted from the list published in the OFFICIAL REPORT on 20th June, of Commonwealth countries that have sought, or are seeking, association with the European Economic Community. The correct position is as follows: Mauritius already has associate status under the Yaoundé Convention; and Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania under the Arusha Convention. Cyprus and Malta also have association agreements with the Community.
The Commonwealth countries eligible for association under Protocol 22 of the Treaty of Accession are listed below. All are taking part in the negotiations for a new association agreement which are now in progress.
