HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 cc437-8W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will indicate the total of State funds in the form of loans and grants that has been made available to the aluminium industry in the United Kingdom during the past 10 years and the amount that is accountable as a result of implementing regional and employment policies.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

I have been asked to reply.

therein, the trend of British sales in each and the total British investment in each of those markets.

Mr. Deakins

Following is the information:

Up to 31st March 1974, loans under the Industrial Expansion Act 1968 amounting to £59 million have been made in respect of aluminium smelter projects. Records of expenditure on investment grants and under regional assistance schemes are not kept by individual industries, and I regret therefore that details of the amounts attributable to aluminium industry are not available.
