HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 cc359-60W
Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many reported robberies there have been, involving the use of firearms, in each of the years since 1965 to the latest date for which figures are available.

Dr. Summerskill

The offence of robbery was redefined by the Theft Act 1968, and figures for years before 1969 are therefore not comparable with those for later years. The number of recorded robberies in England and Wales in which firearms were used was 463 in 1969, 475 in 1970, 572 in 1971 and 533 in 1972. The figure for 1973 is not yet available.

Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many convictions there have been for robberies, involving the use of firearms, in each of the years 1965 to the latest date for which figures are available.

Dr. Summerskill

I regret this information is not available.

what plans there are for an official visit by President Suharto of Indonesia to Great Britain.

Mr. Hattersley

I hope that it will be possible for President Suharto to return in due course, in accordance with custom, the State visit which the Queen paid to Indonesia in March this year. No plans have yet been made.
