HC Deb 04 July 1974 vol 876 c239W
Mr. Neubert

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his latest estimate of the level of output achieved during the period of the three-day week as a percentage of the output in the corresponding period in the previous year.

Dr. Gilbert

Estimates for the precise period of three-day working are not available. For the first quarter of 1974 as a whole, the average of the three measures of gross domestic product at constant factor cost was about 3½ per cent. below the comparable figures for the first quarter of 1973 after adjusting for some understatement by the output measure of the true fall because of the use of delivery indicators to represent production in some industries.
