asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will now take steps to institute fishing subsidies to offset increases in the price of fuel paid by fishermen.

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take action to assist fishing vessels to meet increases in fuel charges.

Mr. Buchan

The reality of higher fuel costs is something the nation as a whole has been required to recognise and adjust to. I have no reason to think the fishing industry is unable to do so.
