HC Deb 04 July 1974 vol 876 c237W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the position in the renegotiations of the commitment in the Treaty of Accession to the EEC to relax controls on United Kingdom investment in other EEC countries by the end of 1974; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dell

This is not a matter for renegotiation. The Treaty of Rome already allows for action to deal with balance of payments difficulties when necessary.
