HC Deb 04 July 1974 vol 876 cc235-6W
Mr. Knox

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of the United Kingdom gross national product was contributed to the Agricultural Fund of the European Economic Community; and whether figures are available from international sources showing how this compares with the contributions of the eight other members.

Mr. Dell

Community expenditure on the common agricultural policy is met from the Communities' budget to which member States contribute according to agreed percentage shares. Of the 1973 budget, 80 per cent. was allocated for agricultural operations. The United Kingdom share of the budget in 1973 was 8.78 per cent. 80 per cent. of our share represents 0.0235 per cent. of United Kingdom gross domestic product in 1973. Figures for the GDP for the other eight member States are not yet available from published international sources.
