HC Deb 03 July 1974 vol 876 cc186-7W
83. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what study he is making of sports facilities in Ulster.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Each of the 26 district councils in Northern Ireland has been requested to carry out detailed surveys of sport and recreation facilities in its area and produce a programme of provision for the next five to 10 years. A number of councils have appointed specialist recreation officers to undertake this task and the Sports Council for Northern Ireland has an advisory rôle in relation to all levels of provision. A programme costing some £2 million a year is under way.
