§ Mr. Cordleasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) whether he will take appropriate action to make it mandatory on local education authorities to pay maintenance grants and fees in respect of all university graduates who undertake a recognised course of study in preparation for Part II of the barrister's qualifying examination;

§ Mr. Gerry FowlerMy right hon. Friend sees no reason at present to depart from the existing arrangements whereby awards for such courses are made at the discretion of local education authorities.
