§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will move to set up a Select Committee of the House to consider the activities which the Common Market propaganda organisation known as Directorate-General X is carrying out in the United Kingdom, particularly in view of the possibility of a referendum being held on the issue of continuing membership.
§ Mr. HattersleyNo. Directorate-General X is the Press and Information Directorate of the Commission of the European Communities. It has offices in all the EEC member countries. Their function is to help meet the public demand for information about the activities and policies of the EEC.
