asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many local education authorities have introduced work experience schemes for pupils in their last year of compulsory schooling following the Education '(Work Experience) Act 1973.

My Department does not collect details of the arrangements made by individual authorities in particular areas of the school curriculum. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of a recent departmental circular on work experience.
