§ Mr. Cordleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will list the scales of pay for radiographers employed by the National Health Service in each of the years 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970 and 1974.
§ Mr. O'MalleySupplementary benefit determinations are the statutory responsibility of the Supplementary Benefits Commission, subject to appeal to the local appeal tribunal, and my right hon. Friend has no power to give instructions about the assessment of benefit. As my hon. Friend the Minister of State for Education and Science explained in his 81W reply to a Question from my hon. Friend on 24th June, part of a student's grant is intended to contribute to his maintenance during vacations and, if the Supplementary Benefits Commission left this out of account in its assessment of any benefit payable to a student during the vacation, there would be duplicate provision from public funds for the same contingency.
