HC Deb 02 July 1974 vol 876 c99W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received to use his power under Section 68 of the Education Act 1944 in respect of the dispute between the Governors of the Sacred Heart School at Redcar and the National Association of Schoolmasters; and what answer he gave.

Mr. Armstrong

My right hon. Friend has received a number of such representations from members of the National Association of Schoolmasters. He has replied that he does not consider that the powers conferred by Section 68 are exercisable in relation to the Sacred Heart dispute.

Mr. Kelley

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will intervene under Section 68 of the Education Act 1944 in the dispute between the National Association of Schoolmasters and the Governors of Sacred Heart School, Redcar, in view of the delay which is being experienced in the publication of examination results.

Mr. Armstrong

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to a question by the hon. Member for Brent, North (Dr. Boyson) on 27th June.—[Vol. 875. c. 518.]
