HC Deb 02 July 1974 vol 876 cc124-5W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is his estimate of the percentage increase in the cost per ton of coal if the wages of National Coal Board colliery workers were increased by £20 a week.

Mr. Eadie

With the present ratio of wage costs to total costs a £20 a week increase in the wages of National Coal Board colliery workers without an increase in production would put up the cost of coal by about 20 per cent.
