HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 c41W
Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will report any progress on the consideration of making May Day a public holiday.

Mr. Booth

The question of making May Day a bank holiday is being included in discussions with the TUC and CBI on voluntary pay arrangements. This issue was discussed at a meeting my right hon. Friend had with the TUC Employment Development Policy Committee on 10th June, when he indicated that the Government would consider the proposal carefully.
