HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 cc60-1W
Mr. John Moore

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many square feet of office space is in use by Government Departments and the Civil Service at the present time; and how this figure compares with 1963 at the same period.

Mr. Kaufman

The latest available figure for the size of the civil office estate is 51,455,000 sq. ft.—net area used for clerical purposes—in December 1973. The corresponding figure for December 1963 was 34,922,000 sq. ft., and for June 1970 45,830,000 sq. ft.
