53. Mr. Grimond

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in view of the importance Her Majesty's Government attach to public control of industry, he will now appoint a director to the British Petroleum Company.

Mr. Dell

Under the British Petroleum Company's articles of association the Government may appoint two ex officio Government directors. One, Lord Greenhill of Harrow, is in post. An appointment to fill the vacancy will be made in due course.
