HC Deb 31 January 1974 vol 868 cc143-4W
Mr. Sydney Chapman

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the present position in relation to the development of the short-range air-to-air missile QC434.

Mr. Younger

In the light of current assessments of operational needs and the severe pressures on the defence budget, it has been decided not to proceed with the full development of QC434. Instead, a less expensive technology demonstration programme is to be introduced aimed at proving the technology involved in the missile, much of which could find application in a variety of future guided weapons.
