§ Mr. NottThe French Minister of Finance visited Germany—the country which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of Ministers—for consultations before the decision was announced. My right hon. Friend and his other colleagues were informed of the decision on384W 19th January. There was a meeting of the EEC Monetary Committee, involving all the member States, on 21st January.
