HC Deb 24 January 1974 vol 867 c340W
Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will order a public inquiry into the proposal of the Dorset Water Board to abstract water from the Winterbourne Valley.

Mr. Rossi

My right hon. and learned Friend has decided to direct the Avon and Dorset River Authority to refer the licence application from the Dorset Water Board to him for determination. I understand that the water board also proposes to apply to him for a works order under the Water Act 1945. He will consider the need for a public local inquiry in the light of objections to both applications.
