HC Deb 24 January 1974 vol 867 c357W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will consider increasing Government assistance to the anti-smoking campaign.

Sir K. Joseph

We are at present studying the effectiveness of the various measures taken by the Government to reduce the damage to health caused by cigarette smoking and considering what might be done. The measures include support for health education and the voluntary agreement with the industry for health warning notices to be shown on packets and advertisements.
