Mr. R. C. Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many local education authorities have notified her Department that they intend to make reductions in their nursery education building projects.

Mr. Raison

None. One local education authority has informed the Department that it would prefer to use part of its nursery building allocation for primary improvement projects.

Mr. R. C. Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what consultations she has had with the Hampshire Education Authority regarding that authority's decision not to proceed next year with 15 approved nursery school projects.

Mr. Raison

None. The authority has not notified the Department of any such decision.
