§ LORD AVEBURYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have decided to continue with the project of converting Bilsborrow Hall for use as judges' 1276WA lodgings notwithstanding the cuts in public expenditure announced recently by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
§ BARONESS YOUNGIn view of the urgent need to contain public expenditure of all kinds a start on adaptation work at Bilsborrow Hall has already been deferred for several months. In common with all other capital projects the position will be reviewed as soon as practicable.
§ LORD AVEBURYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will now publish a comparison of the tenders for alterations to Bilsborrow Hall with the original estimates.
§ BARONESS YOUNGThe work referred to has been put out to tender only once and the lowest tender received is still under consideration because the adaptation work at Bilsborrow Hall has been deferred in view of the urgent need to contain public expenditure of all kinds.
