§ Mr. Alan Williamsasked the Minister for Energy what variation in electricity consumption he estimates would arise from altering the clock in either direction by one hour, and by two hours.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinI do not consider that such alterations would have a significant effect on electricity consumption as I am advised by the Electricity Council that the total number of units consumed in a 24-hour period is substantially the same irrespective of the time system in operation.
