§ Mr. Liptonasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many cases involving United States citizens have been referred to his Department during the past 10 years under the Status of Forces Agreement ; how many of these cases involve claims by one American subject against another ; and what has been the result of these references.
§ Mr. YoungerUnder Article VIII of the NATO Status of Forces Agreement, approximately 5,900 cases involving United States visiting forces were referred to my Department during the past 10 years. Of these, approximately 5,100160W resulted in claims. No statistics are kept which show the nationality of the claimant or how many claims have been paid, and how many repudiated. If the hon. Member has any specific cases in mind, perhaps he will write to me.
