Mr. Geraint Morganasked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will consider co-opting a Welsh-speaking resident of the new county of Clwyd to serve on the Welsh Language Council, inasmuch as no such person is included in the council as it is composed at present.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasI am satisfied that the council will inform itself fully about the language situation in every part of Wales and will consult the relevant interests in every new county. Members are not appointed on a geographical basis and I do not think it necessary to enlarge the council beyond its present size.
