§ Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the law against the employment of children is being observed.
§ Sir K. JosephIt was because of disregard for this branch of the law, which was believed to be fairly widespread, that the Employment of Children Act 1973 was passed. Work is proceeding on regulations to be made under the Act, which will be brought into operation as soon as they are ready to be laid before the House.
