How many persons were released from detention in Northern Ireland in December, 1973; how many of those released have become reinvolved in violence; and how many have been apprehended in connection with offences of any kind since their release.
§ THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, NORTHERN IRELAND OFFICE (LORD BELSTEAD)Eighty-three people were released from detention in December, 1973. The Secretary of State directed the release of 65 people under Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1973; the Commissioners directed the discharge of 3 on a review of their cases and the release of a further 15 held under interim custody orders. To date, no interim custody orders have been made in respect of any of these 83 people, but one has been arrested and charged with an offence.
