HC Deb 07 February 1974 vol 868 cc397-8W
Mr. Shore

asked the Prime Minister on how many occasions, beginning with the meeting of May 1971, he has discussed or corresponded with President Pompidou about the Channel Tunnel; and if he will list the understandings on the subject that he has reached with the President.

The Prime Minister

I have met President Pompidou four times for official bilateral talks beginning with our meeting in May 1971. These meetings have provided ample opportunity for us to discuss the Channel Tunnel. The understandings between our two Governments are expressed in the Exchanges of Notes of September 1971 (Cmnd. 4805) and October 1972 (Cmnd. 5161), and in the Treaty and Exchanges of Notes and Letters of November 1973 (Cmnd. 5486).
