asked the hon. Member for Chelsea as Second Church Estates Commissioner what is the current value of the investment of the Church Commissioners in the New River Company Ltd.

The Commissioners hold £252,420 of 7½ per cent. convertible unsecured loan stock 1982–85 of the New River Company with a present value of about £300,000. They do not own any share of the equity in this company.
