asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if any further works of art have recently been accepted in lieu of estate duty.

Yes, a painting entitled "View of Antibes" by Boudin signed and dated 18th April 1892 has been accepted. The total cost borne by the National Land Fund after allowing for relief from estate duty and capital gains tax is £9,000.

The Minister for the Arts, after taking advice from the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries, will in due course announce the destination of this work of art.
