HC Deb 06 February 1974 vol 868 c340W
Mr. David Mitchell

asked the Minister for Energy under what circumstances firms are permitted to use electricity for production purposes on Sundays.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

The use of electricity on industrial premises on a Sunday is permissible where electricity has normally been used on those premises over the past year for at least one productive shift on each of the seven days of the week. The number of hours of use on the Sunday must not exceed those for which electricity was normally used for similar purposes but electricity cannot be used between 1200 and 1430 hours.
