Mr. Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will amend, during the period of the present fuel emergency, the provisions of the Wages Council orders relating to the terms and conditions of employment with particular reference to Saturday working; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ScottMy hon. Friend has written to the hon. Member explaining that the Secretary of State has no powers to amend wages regulation orders; but the hon. Member will know that the Government have acted to remove the difficulties which had arisen in industry from Saturday working in a three-day week.
