Mr. Gwynoro Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales by how much his Department's Vote has been reduced by the May and December 1973 expenditure cuts; and if he will list the main headings under which cuts have been made.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The Votes for 1974–75 in respect of expenditure by my Department will be reduced by a total of £7.8 million as a result of the cuts announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 21st May and 17th December 1973. The main fields affected will be roads, education, environmental services and health and personal social services.

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will now give details of the proposed public expenditure cuts in Wales.
