HoweIf the proposed acquisition falls within the scope of the merger provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973, I shall consider whether a reference to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission would be appropriate. In doing so I shall take account of any advice from the Director General of Fair Trading whose officials are already in touch with the parties concerned.
