HL Deb 04 February 1974 vol 349 c700WA
LORD BEAUMONT OF WHITLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What plans they have for the future of the hospital block of the recently vacated United States Air Force base in Ruislip; and what plans they have had for its use since they knew of its impending vacancy.

BARONESS YOUNG

Following vacation by the United States Air Force the Department of Health and Social Security have considered taking over the hospital block for various purposes and most recently as a hospital managers' residential training centre. Last November it was necessary to allocate the building to the Department of Trade and Industry as a regional petroleum office in connection with the possible introduction of petrol rationing. It is not known how long the premises will be so required but their permanent future will be decided as soon as it is established when they can be vacated.
